Priyanka Chopra has been a name which is synonym with style in Bollywood. She has not only evolved as an actor but also as a beautiful diva. Over the years we have seen her rock the red carpet with many hits and only few misses. Not only is Priyanka an amazing actor but also a fabulous dresser.

She never repeats the single look on the red carpet no matter how good it was earlier……….she always has something new up her sleeve.  A risk taker at heart, Priyanka is always seen sporting a new hairdo, accessories, shoes & of course designer outfits. She usually opts for a Manish Malhotra or Ritu Kumar design for Indian wear but experiments with infinite designer wear when it comes to western attire.

Though this leading lady is going through a low personal phase since her fathers demise, IFP still admires her attitude & wishes to see her in best element once again. IFP takes a look at Priyanka’s top 10 best looks till date on the red carpet.

Look No. 1

Priyanka Chopra looked her best at the TOIFA Awards 2013 in outfit by designer ‘Arpan Vohra’. What caught my eye was her side swept hairstyle which was absolutely new on Priyanka, fit of the gown was flawless, her make-up was perfect and so were the accessories. Two thumbs up for this alluring look.

Look No. 2

Priyanka Chopra opted for ‘Gauri-Nainika’ dress in fuchsia for the L’oreal Paris Women Achievers Award 2012. The bright colour said loads about Priyanka’s colourful personality which was complemented with a pair of open toe white pumps & diamond earrings.

Look No. 3

Priyanka Chopra was a vision of Greek Goddess in ‘Salvatore Ferragamo’ gown at the Filmfare Awards 2012. The powder blue colour with a metallic clutch & an updo fit the bill perfectly………Priyanka made a simple look turn into a glamorous one.

Look No. 4

At the Marrakech Film Festival, Priyanka looked beautiful in ‘Ritu Kumar’ saree. The lace blouse with a sequin saree was a first for Priyanka but the scarlet red lips put the entire look in a fabulous place. Saree with a contemporary twist is what we like.

At the IIFA awards 2012 Priyanka posed in this dreamy ‘Dolce & Gabbana’ gown………the floral detailing on the sheer fabric made this desi girl look like a princess. Paired with chandelier earrings & an updo, Priyanka knows how to work it well in any outfit.

‘The Lady in Red’ was Priyanka’s hot look at the Big Star Entertainment Awards 2012 . Priyanka wore a ‘Ramona Narang’ gown and looked sizzling hot in this colour. Luckily she kept the entire look simple & devoid of heavy jewel while letting the colour take the entire focus in this look.

For promotions overseas Priyanka went the Indian way in a Manish Malhotra sequin saree & red lips. The golden beige colour complimented Priyanka’s flawless skin while the lips drew attention to her face.  The saree was right for an international event and Priyanka followed the golden rule of keeping accessories to the bare minimum when one wears a heavy embellished outfit.

‘Dior’ gown is a classic way to look instantly elegant on the red carpet……….Priyanka just did that for the Filmfare nominations event where she wore a white ‘Dior’ gown and looked pretty damn good. Priyanka does wear a lot of pastels & white but she can carry off bright colours with equal ease.

Screen Awards 2012, Priyanka again went the saree route……….the Manish Malhotra sequin saree was combined with a maroon blouse. The well set hair and diamond earrings complete this look……….Priyanka looked stunning on the red carpet.

Priyanka Chopra dresses to kill especially at award ceremony………….seen here in a black jumpsuit she looked down right sexy without going overboard. The palazzo pants are a rare sight on the red carpet but Priyanka is a risk taker all the way. On someone else the look might have not worked but PeeCee is an exception.

Padma Honours for Sridevi & Sharmila Tagore

IFP gets you a glimpse into the latest event wherein Bollywood got the top Padma Honours – actress Sharmila Tagore was awarded with Padma Bhushan & Sridevi was awarded with Padma Shri for their respective contribution to Indian Cinema. They were conferred this honour by President of India – Pranab Mukherjee. Actor Rajesh Khanna will receive Padma Bhushan posthumously.

Screening of Race 2

Race 2 which has released today, was screened yesterday evening at PVR in Mumbai. The cast of the movie & other celebrities came in dressed casually for the screening. But Deepika along with Jacqueline did manage to catch IFP’s eye for their outfits.

 Deepika looked fabulous in this ‘Victoria Beckham’ outfit but the shoes were another story all together. Black open toe pumps would definitely have looked better.  Absolutely heart her outfit.

Bipasha Basu who had starred in the first part of Race and also stars in the second installment of this movie,  attended the screening looking cute in her white lace dress with a navy blue jacket & nude open toe pumps to complete her look.

Jacqueline Fernandez & John Abraham posed together for the paparazzi. John who was dressed in casual outfit did not impress that much, given that he has got a strong role in the movie. John sometimes dressing up helps alot……:-) Where as Jacqueline looked good in gold sequin shorts with a black jacket that had detailing on the shoulders.

Saif Ali Khan also came in casually dressed in nautical stripe T-shirt which were complimented with snake leather. Not a fan of the shoes, but hey that’s just me.

Priyanka Chopra who came straight in from ‘India’s Prime Icon’ award event , was dressed in a Shehlaa Khan saree. She did look nice, but pastels on her are becoming a routine. Beg to see vibrant color on this talented actress.

Yami Gautam has given good red carpet look during the awards event but this look just doesn’t impress. The shoes, the bright denims along with the silky top don’t look well co-ordinated. But heard she was not even half bad dressed as Amisha Patel as seen below.

Amisha Patel seems to have come straight from the beach to attend the movie screening. The shorts with shredded end T-shirt was way too comfortable for a movie. Wish she would have just added an evening wear top to match those shorts along with gladiator flats or strappy heels.  This is look deserves to be ‘FINED”.

Aditi Rao Hydari in a black shimmer number combined with ‘Chanel’ bag and strappy sandals. She did look nice in this outfit and kept the look understated with minimal accessories. Like it.

‘BEST DRESSED’ of 2012

‘Indian Fashion Police’ brings in the new year with the most stylish & well dressed celebrities wwhom we have seen over the past year. Our picks for the year 2012 are based on the numerous times these celebrities have looked fabulous on the red carpet.

Deepika Padukone

Deepika had me surprised this year with her style choices especially post her ‘Cocktail’ movie success. Loved her looks in the movie as well on the red carpet where she experimented with her looks even more. The choices of designer gowns and sarees have  made IFP sit up & take a good look at her. Deepika has transformed from a girl to a demure woman……………IFP had to undoubtedly put her on this list. Her casuals had denims teamed with sexy lace tops styled with a purse & bangles while bold gowns & sarees flattered her figure on the red carpet.

Hrithik Roshan

Even though we did not have many red carpet appearances but Hrithik still wooed us as he walked at Marrakech Film Festival in black Tuxedo & sleek hairstyle alongside wife Suzzane. He put in that extra effort to look good be in his clothes, his hair or his clean shaven face. That is why Hrithik makes it to IFP’s list of ‘Best Dressed’.

Sridevi

She came back and stunned us yet again just to make us realize how much we missed the actor ‘Sridevi’. Her acting skills are uncomparable but it was her dressing style which made me smile every single time she walked the red carpet. Her saree choices from Manish Malhotra & Sabyasachi were beautiful so were her western attires. She complimented each look with alluring jewellery, a clutch & hairstyle which completed her look and made her look ever  more elegant.

 

Kareena Kapoor

The year 2012 was indeed a blessing for Kareena Kapoor on both personal & professional front. But this year also saw her explore new wardrobe choices. The gal who was mostly seen in Manish Malhotra outfits on the red carpet, made way for designers gowns, dresses & jumpsuits…………something which we have been longing to see Kareena in. Her make-up is always flawless, her hair are superbly styled, her nails well-manicured and her outfits are to die for. Do we need to give anymore reasons as to why Kareena Kapoor makes it to this list?

 

 

Mini Mathur

Mini Mathur might not be the Bollywood’s leading ladies but she sure stands out whenever seen at any red carpet event…………the reason : her choice of silk sarees which she wore with sheer elegance. On someone else the saree would have fallen flat, but on Mini the sarees looked fabulous especially when she paired them with stone jewellery & a batua bag.

 

Arjun Rampal

Bandhgala paired with Jodhpuri pants on the red carpet of Cannes Film Festival seems like a tricky choice, but our very own Arjun Rampal carried off effortlessly. Arjun is one of the few actors who rocks the red carpet in any thing that he wears plus he has evolved in his looks as he has ages gracefully. Arjun & his wife Meher made us red carpet proud at this year’s Cannes when they both walked in wearing a Rohit Bal & Tarun Tahiliani outfits. Neat, sophisticated and ever evolving…………that’s what makes Arjun stand out in our list.

Karisma Kapoor

Polished, sophisticated, sexy, elegant, all combined in one is how I describe Karisma Kapoor’s style. Even though these days she is seen wearing black or pastels, she manages to grab eyeballs with her subtle style.  This mother of two has groomed her younger sister Kareena to stardom and has maintained herself as a ‘Diva’. Karisma makes it to this list too along with Kareena – both sisters are the offical muse of the eminent designer Manish Malhotra.

Kalki Koechlin

Kalki is the surprise entrant on the red carpet who started off looking like a ‘girl next door’ but has morphed herself to a ‘celebrity’ with amazing style sense. Why she makes it to IFP’s list is because of her quirky, unusal options which she wears to the red carpet. She is refreshingly different from the rest of the celebrities and stands on her own. A celebrity who can wear a hairband with an Indian outfit & still manage to walk off with an ease…………..which is what Kalki did at this year’s Cannes.

Dabangg 2 Premiere

Dabangg 2 was premiered in Mumbai with fanfare following ‘Chulbul Pandey’ to the theaters. I did catch the movie first day and must say it was as entertaining as it’s earlier version. But getting back to take a look at the red carpet of this event where the lead actors as well as their friends & family joined in to view this movie.

Sonakshi Sinha surprised me by choosing this black & fuchsia anarkali by designer duo Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla. She did look good in this look………… a refreshing change from her desi, saree clad looks on & off screen. 🙂

The Dabangg brothers  dressed in casuals could just not part their way from denim. Sigh!!! I so wish to see them all dressed for a big event…………leaving that aside, actually digging Salamn’s ‘Being Human’ T-shirt which would have worked for any casual outing or promotion.

Malaika Arora Khan who is also the producer of this movie along with husban Arbaaz, came dressed in a Shehlaa Khan outfit. Not a fan of the outfit……..think it would have worked well if the outfit was in a single colour than blending white with yellow. No complains about the accessories though.

The family also extended it’s support by attending the premiere. Sister Arpita, brother Sohail & his wife Seema made an appearance at the event. Arpita wore a ‘Sabyasachi’ outfit which did look nice on her.

B Seventy : An unique Art Show & Book to celebrate the 70th Birthday of Amitabh Bachchan

 B Seventy – a unique art show; probably the first of its kind in the country opened at the Hall of Vision, Nehru Centre, Mumbai on 11th October 2012. Seventy showcases the artworks of 70 of India’s leading artists. All these works have one thing in common – their inspiration. Each of the works is a tribute to Mr Amitabh Bachchan in celebration of the actor’s 70th birthday (also on 11th October).

 The works are also documented in an elegant coffee table book, the brainchild & labour of love by Jaya Bachchan and Piyush Pandey. Alongside the artist’s work, the artist’s thoughts behind the artwork have also been captured in this book. It promises to be a collector’s delight  The book and the art show have been jointly conceptualised by Ms Jaya Bachchan and ad guru Piyush Pandey. B Seventy is a show that is not only every fans dream come true but is also an art lover / connoisseur’s  delight – as it presents artistic interpretations, inspired by one of Indian cinemas most endearing, classic icons: Amitabh Bachchan. 

B Seventy is colourful and artistic celebration of a man who has stood his ground in the wake of many adversities. A celebration of courage and conviction and most of all, a celebration of character the show also celebrates 70 years of adulation, adoration and influence. B70 covers a varied gamut of genres of Indian art. These include modern & contemporary art, sculptures, photography, mixed media and even an installation.

These works have been created by a list of artists that reads like the who’s who of Indian Art: Akbar Padamsee, Anjolie Ela Menon, Satish Gujral, Badri Narayan , Gieve Patel, Manu Parekh, Paresh Maity, Jayasri Burman, Arzan Khambatta, Farhad Hussain, Satish Gupta, Sujata Bajaj, Praneet Soi and others. The show has been curated by Sapna Kar.

A select preview for artists, art lovers and collector’s was hosted on 11^th October, 2012. The show was inaugurated by Ms Smt Kokilaben Ambani.. Present for the occassion were the Bachchan family : Jaya & Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek & Aishwarya Bachchan, Shweta Nanda, Ajitabh & Ramola Bachchan with their daughters, Anil & Tina Ambani, Dipti Salgaoncar, Nina Kothari, Parmeshwar Godrej, Devaunshi & Anoop Mehta, Sandeep Khosla, Harsh Goenka, Roohi Jaikishan, Kajal Anand, Farah Oomberhoy, Namita Saraf, Kalpana Shah. Artists present for this special occassion included : Satish Gupta, Paresh Maity, Sujata Bajaj, Jaideep Mehrohtra, Lalitha Lajmi, Arzan Khambatta etc

 The book has been designed by Ogilvy and Mather and edited by Anupa Mehta.  The exhibition at Nehru centre also featured a display or rare original posters of old films of Mr Bachchan by film historian SMM Ausaja. Part proceeds from the sale of these artworks will be donated via Plan India for the cause of quality education for the girl child.

Amitabh Bachchan’s 70th Birthday Bash

Legendary actor Amitabh Bachchan celebrated his 70th Birthday in Mumbai with the entire Bollywood turning up to convey their wishes. Family and friends made a pretty picture on the red carpet along with Big B who was dressed in a velvet Bandhgala looked every bit like a royal.

Also a unique art show – B Seventy which is probably the first of its kind in the country will open at the Hall of Vision, Nehru Centre, Mumbai on 12th and 13th October 2012. B Seventy will showcase the artworks of 70 of India’s leading artists. All these works have one thing in common – their inspiration. The art show have been jointly conceptualised by Ms Jaya Bachchan and ad guru Piyush Pandey.Each of the works is a tribute to Mr Amitabh Bachchan in celebration of the actor’s 70th birthday.

Star Style : Kareena Kapoor

With Kareena giving such good looks on the red carpet while promoting her upcoming movie ‘Heroine’, IFP had to do a post in her style. For the Indian wear Kareena has been loyal to her favourite designer ‘Manish Malhotra’ but I an happy that she has been experimenting a lot in western wear opting for numerous designers. She looked amazing as a show-stopper for Pankaj-Nidhi & Kallol Dutta at LFW and even more awesome in the ads of Lakme Absolute Monochrome make-up. Kareena is all set to release her book on style which I am sure will be up for grabs. Here is a look at her recent adventures with fashion.

Kareena Kapoor was promoting her movie along with sister Karisma in Dubai. Kareena opted for a one-shoulder ‘Mara Hoffman’ outfit. She sizzled in this awesome look of hers at the promotion after party at the Palace – Dubai.

My favourite look has to be her in a ‘Halston Heritage’ outfit that she paired with black strappy heels, ‘Aquamarine’ earring in black and vintage style sunglasses. LOVE this look for the vibrant hue and the fact that the dress gets our attention.

Kareena was also promoting her movie on various television shows like ‘Indian Idol’ and ‘Punar Vivah’ where she was in her Indian avatar. ‘Manish Malhotra’ saree in bright colors with chandelier earrings completed her look for the Indian Idol Finale.

While she opted for a ‘Manish Malhotra’ white anarkali while promoting on ‘Punar Vivah’ . Though I did like the outfit, I just feel the dupatta is too much of shimmer………….but hey that’s just me.

Designers Manish Malhotra & Shaina N.C. hosted a fund raiser fashion show ‘Caring with Style’ for Pidilite – Cancer Patients Aid Association [CPAA] at the Intercontinental The Lalit Mumbai on Sunday 1st July 2012 , where the swish crowd of Mumbai was part of this wonderful event. Gehna Jewellers were sponsor partner of CPAA and many celebs were seen walking the runway in beautiful jewels by Gehna Jewellers.

The show was hosted by Ayushman Khurana & Sophie Choudry where sohpie also walked the ramp for designer Manish Malhotra. Actress Priyanka Chopra was show stopper for Manish where as Diana Hayden walked for designer Shaina N.C. The evening had many celebrities joining for the noble cause of raising funds for cancer patients. Celebs included Shamita Shetty, Shazahn Padamsee, Mona Singh, Smriti Irani, Tanisha, Dolly Thakore, Ashish Choudhary, Vidya Malvade and many more. IFP brings to you an exclusive look of the show.
