Esha Deol – Bharat Takhtani Wedding

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on June 30, 2012

After days of preparations, Esha Deol & Bharat Takhtani tied a knot in traditional South Indian style at the Hare Rama Hare Krishna mandir in Juhu, Mumbai. The wedding ceremony was a pleasant mix of South India & North India where the bride was dressed in Kanjeevaram saree style lehenga and the groom opted for a sherwani. The outfits for both bride & the groom were designed by Neeta Lulla………..she sure made Esha look beautiful on her D-Day. Designer Neeta Lulla combined Kanjeevaram sarees to create the look for Esha.

Father of the Bride – Dharamendra & mother Hema Malini welcomed the groom and the other baaratis at the entrance of the mandir. Abhay Deol & his partner Preeti Desai attended the ritual as part of the family. Preeti Desai wore a fabulous peach Anita Dongre saree and looked gorgeous in it. Hema Malini also wore a Kanjeevaram saree which was redesigned by designer Neeta Lulla.

Many A-List celebrities like Amitabh Bachchan, Abhishek Bachchan, Neeta Ambani, veteran actors Manoj Kumar & Vyjayanthimala, Vinod Khanna, Shaina NC, Rani Mukherjee, Madhoo, Poonam Sinha, Fardeen Khan and many others. Just a glimpse of who attended the ceremony.

Esha Deol’s Mehendi Ceremony

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on June 29, 2012

As the D-day approaches, the pretty bride-to-be Esha Deol is definitely glowing and giving us pretty bridal looks. No wonder we were pleasantly happy to see her in this orange & green Neeta Lulla Lehenga which had me on the color part. Bright and thankfully ‘not-over-the-top’ look works for this daytime ceremony.

It was again peach color with a touch of green saree by designer Neeta Lulla for mama Hema Malini while sister Ahana opted for tangerine color anarkali by Nishka Lulla. IFP loves the colors seen in this ceremony that makes it look so ‘oh-so-festive’…………….surely you can never have a dull moment.

Esha Deol – Bharat Takhtani’s Sangeet Ceremony

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on June 27, 2012

A wedding in the B-Town is just what we fashionistas needed in this dull month of June where most of the celebrities are out shooting or enjoying a holiday. Esha Deol is all set to tie knot with her beau Bharat Takhtani. IFP gives you an exclusive look at the event and the celebrity red carpet style.

The couple were dressed in traditional Indian attire….Esha wore a beautiful orange lehenga designed by Rocky S while Bharat complimented her look in a blue & golden velvet kurta. IFP says theyĀ bothĀ make a cute pair together.

Mom Hema Malini caught our eye in this dazzling Neeta Lulla saree. The color, the detail work and the lady……IFP loves it all. The only thing we would like to ignore is the shining pink clutch which we find a bit out of place. But Hema Malini’s grace makes up for it.

Abhya Deol and Preeti Desai also attened the celebrations where Abhay looked dapper in a basic black suit, Preeti looked fabulous in ‘Anita Dongre’ lehenga. IFP gives a thumbs up to this couple for dressing perfectly for the occasion.

The newly wed Riteish & Genelia Deshmukh were also seen at the Sangeet. Genelia opted for a Neeta Lulla designed Lehenga. IFP likes the color combination of pairing a nude color with a bright maroon choli. Even Mr. Deshmukh looked good in the suit……….hoping to see more fashionable looks from this couple on the red carpet.

Actress and Page 3 celeb Madhoo also opted for a lehenga though IFP feels the corset choli is notĀ gellingĀ too well with the red lehenga. Wish Madhoo would have opted for a short sleeve choli instead of a corset fit one.

The sen sisters were seen at an event after a long time. Though fashion wise, we are liking Raima Sen’s anarkali style more………….Riya Sen did look cute in her Anarkali ensemble. Wish she would try out new hairstyle than stick to the same ol’ hair since the past decade….IFP thinks she desperately needs a fresh look.

Ranveer Singh who was seen partying after ages since his injury. The best part was he did not disappoint us fashionwise……….Ranveer wore a ‘Manish Malhotra’ designed Bandhgala in black and had grown a beard to complement his look. IFP likes to see him in this Indian look…………..

Celebrities who look their best in Saree

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on June 6, 2012

A Saree is something not all women can carry off……… as it requires a lot of attention to details when i come to selecting the saree material, type of drape and how to wear it.Ā  Only few women in the fashion scene have done justice to a Saree. This is perhaps one of IFP’s most read articles, so had to add a couple of names more and present the write-up in a new look.

Vidya Balan

Vidya Balan is the epitome of old time charm when dressed in a saree. The only designer who does justice to her looks is Sabhyasachi Mukherjee whose designs are not over the edge yet feminity is at it’s classic best. In the initial days Vidya Balan did mess up a lot with her looks………………remember the hideous Orange Salwar Kameez she wore while hosting Filmfare Awards……………long are those days gone and I am glad that the lady knows what looks good on her. She does make heads turn at red carpet events with her beautifully crafted sarees. Loved her look in movies like ‘Bhool Bholaiya’ & ‘Paa’Ā but off-screen she is the one responsible to bring the 3/4th sleeve blouses and handloom sarees back in fashion. In a saree, Vidya could do no wrong and is today regarded as one of India’s Best Dressed.

ShilpaĀ Shetty

No one on the Indian Fashion Scene could have looked so hot and sexy in a Saree as ShilpaĀ ShettyĀ did. She has simply re-defined theĀ trend of wearing a ‘Saree’.Ā Thanks to her Designer TarunĀ Tahiliani, ShilpaĀ has never looked better. The world actually stopped to take a look at her as she walked down the red carpet looking dazzling in a Saree during Big Brother in UK. We loved her red and green saree with ethnic KundanĀ and Emerald jewellery. IĀ love ShilpaĀ for her originality and the fact thatĀ she has been a trend setter all along.Ā She has styled her sarees with halter and off-shoulder blouses for red carpet events.Ā  She has graced the ramp as shop stopper for TarunĀ Tahiliani’s collection for the consecutive 3 years.

Ā

Ā Ā

Ā

AishwaryaĀ Rai Bachchan

I still remember AishwaryaĀ as an upcoming model in advertisement ofĀ ‘Garden’ Sarees. No one before her and after her could do justice to the Saree brand. Since then she has graced numerousĀ fashion shows and magazine covers.Ā  I simply love her colour selectionĀ in pastels and pinks. From Traditional South Indian KanjeevaramsĀ to Crepes to ChiffonsĀ to Silks give her any type Saree to wear and she carries it off with utter ease. Women just drooledĀ over her two toned and heavily embroidered Sarees which she wore in ‘Devdas’. AishwarysĀ gives credit to her designer NeetaĀ LullaĀ for giving her that look as she portrayed the role of ‘Paro’. In recent times, Aishwarya has worn Sabyasachi and Abu Jani- Sandeep Kholsa sarees to red carpet events.

Ā

Ā

Kajol

Her smile simply lights up any room that she enters but when she combines it with a beautiful saree the end resultĀ is ‘AWESOME’.Ā  ManishĀ MalhotraĀ transformed her into a Style diva when he designed for her in ‘KuchĀ KuchĀ hotaĀ hai’ . We have seen her in designer SalwarĀ KameezĀ but I feel she looks stunning in a Saree. The best part about her choice is that she has never worn anything which is has too much of detail work. Ā She keeps the Jewellery to the minimumĀ emphasizing on earrings only. People love the fact thatĀ she is always herself in any silhouette and does not have to pretend that she is aĀ celebrity. No wonder how style comes easily to Kajol.

Sridevi

SrideviĀ has been an example for all Designers in India for the way she carries herself in a Saree. She oozes grace andĀ elegance for which I call her ‘Timeless Beauty’.Ā  As a childĀ I remember seeing her inĀ sizzling blue saree in Mr. India or inĀ pastel colour sarees in ‘Chandni’. Even when she is not in her on-screenĀ glamorousĀ avatar I love her simple look in a KanjeevaramĀ Saree.Ā  These days SrideviĀ has started experimenting with western wearĀ  but iĀ still feel she should wear more of Indian Outfits as it suits her tall frame.Ā Designers like Queenie Dhodhy, ManishĀ MalhotraĀ and NeetaĀ Lulla design their creations for her and she has graced many fashion week shows as a Show stopper.

Sonia Gandhi

Sonia Gandhi wears a crisp KhadiĀ and silk sarees with such a refinement I have ever seen. She might be of Italian origin but Indian women can learn a thing or two about how to carry a sareeĀ in whatever situation you might be in.Ā I love how she combines her saree with a winter coat and uses her saree palluĀ as a scarf around the collar making itĀ quite a style statement. Even as she is maintaining her style she never loses her dignity and focus that she belongs to the most affluent ‘Gandhi’ family.Ā While other celebrities go in for glamorous looks in sareeĀ Sonia has always opted for simple clean look makingĀ a uniqueĀ style statement. Sonia Gandhi has made a mark for herself in the Indian Politics and was thirdĀ in the ForbesĀ ‘Most powerful woman in the world’Ā  list.

HemaĀ Malini

This ‘Dream Girl’ has been on the Bollywood scene for more than 40 years but she seems to grow more elegant with the passing years. She might be above 60Ā years but she can give today’s young actress a run for their money with her style. She was the reigning queen of Bollywood in the 60s and 70s. She made a comeback in bollywoodĀ again after a long break of more than 10 years.People loved her look created by NeetaĀ LullaĀ in recent movies like ‘Baghban’ and ‘Baabul’. She played her age in the movie and has redefined the image of a ‘screen mother’ in Bollywood cinema. A trained OdissiĀ dancer HemaĀ MaliniĀ still performs on stage along with her two daughters. The fact I love about her is that she dresses up according to her age and never once worn anything revealing or shabby.Ā  Give her a Saree made out of anyĀ fabric and sheĀ carries it magnificently. She is the ‘Original Diva’ which the Indian audience love, still remember and cannot get enough of.Ā  I have seen her personally several times and asked for her autograph and was always awestruck by her beauty.Ā If I were to ever age, I would love to be as dignified and graceful as HemaĀ Malini.

KirronĀ Kher

KirronĀ KherĀ who is a very versatile actress is well-knownĀ in the Indian Social circle for her Saree Collection. She has said in one of her interviewsĀ “I love to wear only woven handloomĀ silk and cotton sarees. While I buy my tussharsĀ from the Weaver’s Studio in KolkataĀ and tangailsĀ from Kanishka, I buy silks and KanjeevaramsĀ from L’AffaireĀ in Delhi, India as the collections are larger, more beautiful and embroidered. In Chennai, I pick up my KanjeevaramsĀ from UshaĀ RanganathanĀ and from SundariĀ Silks owned by RajaramĀ who has good taste.” No wonder she gets that amazingĀ look by going out-of-the-wayĀ to find the perfect Saree. I like the way KirronĀ is at ease when she is wearing a Saree and the Potli/BatuaĀ bags she wears matching with her Saree. She says that she has inherited her taste in Sarees and jewellery from herĀ mother Late DiljitĀ ThakarĀ Singh. Well I must give the credit to her mother, for even at this age KirronĀ Kher rules the Saree collection among Indian Celebrities.

Rekha

Whenever I think of the beautiful ‘Kanjeevaram’, Rekha is the only celebrity that comes to my mind. This silk silhouette is carried with utmost grace by Rekha since I am seeing her on the red carpet. She adorns herself with classic, traditional jewellery along with beautiful clutch bags on a Kanjeevaram saree. It would be a fashionista’s dream come true if they ever get to go inside her wardrobe and check out her amazing saree collection………….that is one think I would give my tooth and nail for. One of our readers reminded us that Rekha should be included in this list and IFP couldn’t agree anymore.

Housefull 2 Premiere

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on April 5, 2012

Housefull 2 had a dazzling star studded premiere at Sentosa Island – Singapore. Here is a look at what the stars looked like at this event and whhether IFP likes their look or not.

Asin posed for theĀ shutter-bugsĀ with the leading actor Akshay Kumar. Asin wore a ‘Paule Ka’ color blocked gown with an updo and kept herĀ accessories to the minimum while Akshay went the ‘shiny disco ball’ route with this suit which we certainly are not a fan of. From the looks of it we love Asin’s look for the premiere and think she looked great. Akshay Kumar please get some help from your graceful wife who have an amazing style sense.

Jacqueline Fernandes looked pretty in a lace gown by designer Dilnaz Kharby at the premiere. The gown which had a lace top also had an addition of a peplum detail and a saree style sash on her shoulder. On someone else the dress might have not looked that good, but on Jacqueline the design definitely looks amazing. IFP likes her red carpet look for sure.

Shazahn PadamseeĀ chooseĀ a pretty ‘Narendra Kumar’ gown for the premiere evening and adorned it with funky jewelry. Unfortunately the elegant ball gown called for something ‘rich’ in accessories as well. Since the bustier had detail work Shazahn could have skipped theĀ turquoiseĀ neck piece and instead opted for longer earrings. Like the dress but the styling could have been better.

Riteish Deshmukh came hand in hand with wife Genelia while looking every bit like the couple in love…..sigh. While Genelia looked cute in a short white dress that had metallic detailing on the neckline, Riteish opted for a biker jacket whichĀ IFP thought was out of place on the red carpet unless you are in at theĀ premiĆØre of an action movie.

Also spotted at the premiere was John Abraham but his style definitely disappoint us. John was spotted in a full sleeve sweat T-shirt which was totallyĀ inappropriate for the red carpet. We know he has a body to die for, but would love to see John in tuxedo or at least a formal jacket at red carpet event.

Best Dressed 2011

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on December 1, 2011

Every year ‘Indian Fashion Police’ picks out the ‘Best Dressed’ people in India. Had many celebs on my mind who stood out on the red carpet but only few managed to make it to this list. We tell you why these people made it to this list, so here goes….’BEST DRESSED 2011′

Sonam Kapoor

This pretty lady has made us proud at Cannes 2011 with her choices which stood out of the usual. She is fresh, ready to experiment with her looks and head-to-toes a style diva. I love her fashion choices so much that I am featuring her in this list second time in a row. Sarees, Anarkali, gown, trousers, dress…………dress her up in any outfit and she makes it rock.

Imran Khan

Men in Bollywood have competition when it comes down to style………….Imran who is from this generation of actor not only entertains well on the silver screen but dresses well on the red carpet. His style is young, sophisticated and fun……….all at one which he always manages to get right. This year we have seen Imran in a bandhgala during his wedding, suits, tuxedos, casual wear and managed to rock every ensemble……that’s why he makes it to this list.

Sophie Choudry

Surprise, surprise………….Sophie Choudry who lately has been seen more on the red carpet this year was one of the few women who knew what looks good on her. Her emphasis is always more on the outfit while aceesories & shoes are kept simple. She is one of the few celebs whose dressing style does not scream for attention. She carries every silhouette with utmost ease and grace.

Freida Pinto

She has been making waves in Hollywood………..not just for her films, but for her red carpet appearances. She is young, smart and very fashionable when it comes to her style. Love the designer outfits she chooses everytime she has to attend a big event………..the hair, the accessories, the outfit and the shoes……….she gets it all right.

Twinkle Khanna

Mrs. Khiladi, we are a fan of your style……..despite leaving movies, Twinkle still manages to grab attention on every red carpet event for the outfits that she wears. Now here is someone who dresses her age and thankfully is not obsessed with looking like a teenager. Twinkle’s style is all about color……..she surprises youĀ by wearing the most bright color and she looks absolutely stunning inĀ it.Ā She picks up the most classic outfits that do just to her body, adds in a bit of bling and voila……….Twinkle to ready to make heads turn. And oh she also has Akshay Kumar as her arm candy at these events…………….do we need any more reasons not to feature her here??

Siddhartha Mallya

Siddhartha Mallya might be just starting out with his appearances on the red carpet but he sure looks good. He takes dressing up quite seriously be it a casual party, a major event or a cricket match. He is young and has a long way to go before he is a bonafide celebrity, but for now I have a feeling he will make a lasting impression when it is about fashion.

Dia Mirza

If I was ever asked to define the looks of a princess, Dia would be my answer. Sweet, elegant and charming lady knows how to dress well for every occasion. She can carry off pastels with the same grace as any bright color. I have never seen her dress like a christmas tree unlike many celebs………..her style is minimalistic &Ā classic. Plus she always has a smile on her face which is the best accessory.

Rahul Khanna

Rahul Khanna might not be that big on the movie scene, but he sure knows how to impress the ladies with his style. I admire the way this man takes risks with his fashion choices. Who else can carry a shiny dinner jacket and still look awesome. Even when he hosts any event, he looks way better than the top celebrities. ‘Effortless’ is the word I use to describe his sense of style.

Celebrity Sightings this Week

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on October 28, 2011

This week witnessed loads of celebrations due to Diwali festival and this week also saw a lot of celebrity sightings. Here is the best from the week.

Lady Gaga arrives in style

Lady Gaga has arrived in India as she will be performing at the Grand Prix, but what I love about her that she like a chameleon can adapt to any style………….one moment she is a rockstar, then suddenly she turns up at an event looking like a ‘Diva’. She did surprise me in this beautiful ‘NaeemĀ Khan’ designed one shoulder gown…………she looked splendid while she flaunted in this outfit accessorized with diamond jewelry and ‘vintage’ look sunglasses as she attended a press conference in New Delhi. Love, love. love…………

KareenaĀ Kapoor unveils her wax statue at Madame Tussauds

KareenaĀ Kapoor unveiled her wax figure at Madame Tussauds in London. The figurine was dressed in ‘Jab we Met’ avatar and definitely is a high-point in her career to be recognized internationally as well.

As for me, I still think the original one looks much prettier in her ‘ManishĀ Malhotra’ saree………groovy baby.

Ā

Ekta Kapoor’s Diwali Bash

Ā KanganaĀ Ranaut took some inspiration from the 1960s to dress up in this peach ‘gotta’ work saree with side swept hairdo and a mini ‘Birkin’………..all the beautiful things put together unfortunately fell flat. Next time skip the bag and opt for a classy clutch. A bit of drama helps but too much of it actually spoils the look.

Someone seemed to be in some hurry………….Tusshar Kapoor was seen attending this bash in a oliveĀ green bandhgala which seemed way to body fit………Go easy on the fit, we don’t want celebrities gasping for fresh air due to tight clothes……:-)

Sophie ChoudryĀ is definitely emerging to be my favorite on the red carpet……she wore this fabulous ‘Sabyasachi’ gown to the bash and looked absolutely flawless. The understated BottegaĀ Veneta clutch with strappyĀ shoes complete her Anarkali look.

SamirĀ SoniĀ and NeelamĀ did look color co-ordinatedĀ except for the jazzy big clutch. Though I Ā like her shimmery shoes……….

Spotted designer NanditaĀ Mahtani in this hot pink saree with floral detail all over. Love the saree, hate the way it is draped and accessorized……..sigh.

Bachchans throw a Diwali Bash

Bachchan’sĀ held a Diwali party at their residence in JuhuĀ where many celebrities made their way to attend this event. Among the invitessĀ wereĀ Neil Nitin Mukesh, SonaliĀ Bendre, RaveenaĀ Tandon, ShabanaĀ Azmi, Javed Akhtar, SimiĀ Garewal, ZayedĀ KhanĀ and many more. But what was good, that we people got to have a sneak peek of mum-to-be Aishwarya welcoming guests.

Celebrity Sightings this week

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on October 21, 2011

AishwaryaĀ Rai Bachchan’sĀ Baby Shower

JayaĀ BachchanĀ welcomed every guest for Aishwarya’sĀ baby shower which was held at the ‘Bachchan’ residence in Juhu. She was seen wearing this beautiful pastel-golden motif saree [my guess Abu-Sandeep]. Love the saree though the hair needed a bit of help…………..on second thought since it was an event at her residence, so whatever complaints I have gets compensated by her graceful saree…….:-)

BipashaĀ BasuĀ was seen wearing a ‘ManishĀ Malhotra’ creation in pink & white…………..she did look gorgeous, love her hair but what was an eye-sore was KaranĀ JoharĀ dressed in oversized denim shirt and pants. A kurtaĀ would have done better work……………but the ceremony was meant for ladies, so can let Karan go off the hook for now.

Twinkle Khanna definitely knows how to dress for any damn occasion…………she looks stunning in this Abu-Sandeep designed kurti-churidhar along with a ‘Chanel’ bag and peep-toes. Two thumbs up for Twinkle who has always opts for classic pieces. A color like this would have not worked otherwise on someone else……………Twinkle simply rocks in it.

Neetu Kapoor also came in dressed in Abu-Sandeep outfit, Do I need to say anything about this beautiful woman who still looks charming at any given time…………….elegance, grace and poise……….Neetu surely has it all.

Also spotted at the event were NeelamĀ and ManyataĀ Dutt…………Neelam looks pretty in a blue-green kurti-churidhar, I do like Manyata’sĀ peach saree but neck up the story is entirely different. Wish ManyataĀ would opt for a new hairdo and avoid chunky jewelry even if they cost alot of moolah.

Designer NeetaĀ Lilla along with her daughter NishkaĀ in their own creations. The KalamkariĀ saree from Neeta’sĀ recent collectionĀ looks amazing on her plus the chunky neckpieceĀ works well with the outfit. Though wish to have a better pic of Nishka……

PoonamĀ Sinha Also made an appearance at the ceremony in a green saree combined with a purple blouse…………Poonam has surely made color blocking work for her. Like this simple look of hers…….

It is not so often that one gets to see SairaĀ Bano at events, but she did come to the ceremony in a red saree looking graceful as ever. I strongly feel that today’s actress lack elegance which was seen in yester-year actresses. Sigh……..

Spice Mobile Launch

SonamĀ Kapoor who is the brand ambassador of ‘Spice Mobiles’ was seen atĀ it’s recent launch of mobile phones. Clean lines with this dress which she prepped up with a blue bib necklace & braided hair. She managed to look flawless especially after her black gown debacle. Good to see her bounce back with such a charming look.

Rockstar Promotions

RanbirĀ Kapoor and co-star NargisĀ FakriĀ have been busy promoting their upcoming movie ‘Rockstar’ in various cities. Seen here in a more traditional avatar of patialaĀ salwarĀ and kurtaĀ on both of them. If I had to pick one look it will have to be Ranbir’sĀ attire in a khadiĀ kurtaĀ with silk salwarĀ and the ‘Ray-bans’. As for Ms. Fakri, the shortĀ A-line kurtiĀ with a patialaĀ salwar is just too much of mess happening.

Johnnie Walker Jet Black party

Caught BipashaĀ basuĀ partying the night with pal Deanne PandeyĀ at Johnnie Walker Jet Black party held in Mumbai. BipashaĀ wore a Falguni-Shane Peacock creation in black which was the party theme color. She looks smoking hot in this sexy attire…….all heart for this look.

SchokolaadeĀ Launch at ‘Anita Dongre’ flagshipĀ store

‘Schokolaade’ desert cafe was launched at Anita Dongre’sĀ flagship store in BandraĀ with AbhishekĀ BachchanĀ as theĀ ‘guest of honor’Ā along withĀ celebs like SangeetaĀ Bijlani, SonaliĀ Bendre, SameeraĀ Reddy, GayatriĀ Oberoi, PriaĀ KatariaĀ PuriĀ and host of others.Ā In case you are tired shopping at the store, hop in at Schokolaade for a quick munch…….:-)

AbhishekĀ BachchanĀ lookeĀ dapper in white shirt with denims but I wish he would appoint a stylist who tells him that a stubble is not always fashionable.

GQ ‘Men of the Year’ Awards

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on October 1, 2011

GQ magazine gave away ‘Men of the Year’ awards in Mumbai………………..and weĀ  had to write about who wore what and how did they fair on the red carpet. So here we go……..

Shahrukh Khan has been voted the best dressed man in India but I sometimes wish he would experiment with a bit of color rather than always playing safe in black. Though he does look good in his statement black tuxedo complete with push back hair.

Mrs. Khan of the other hand is definitely a graceful dresser……..Gauri was seen at this event wearing an ‘EmilioĀ Pucci’ laceĀ dress, Judith LeiberĀ clutch and Jimmy Choo shoes. I like the fact that she did not go all matchy-matchy with her accessories instead opted for a silver clutch & nude open toe heels. Simple, elegant and absolutely appropriate for the event.

FarhanĀ Akhtar seems to have forgotten the essential of these Tux……………the bow-tie of course. A handsome face like him definitely would have looked better styled if he had taken a little more pain in completing the evening look……………rather than just walking in without the tie.

AnushkaĀ Sharma was seeing wearing this green ‘Dior’ gown with loose curls on one side…………I am not much into this color but I cannot deny the fact that AnushkaĀ looked absolutely amazing. On anyone else the outfit would not looked so good, but Anushka sure makes it work.

FreidaĀ Pinto posed for the shutterbugsĀ in this ‘Versace’ gown………….unfortunately the sequin-featheredĀ tail gown could not make Ms. Pinto stand out in the crowd. In a single colour, the gown had too much detail work which did no justice to Freida’s petite frame. I wish she would have chosen one of her knee-length dresses which she is able to work so flawlessly.

It was a surprise to see PrateikĀ in a suit looking dapper plus with a pretty arm candy!!…………now that’s ice-cream with cherry on the top. The lady in question is British model Amy Jackson who will be seen in India films soon. As for Prateik, pleaseĀ dress this way for red carpet events, casuals are best left for time-out with buddies.

DeepikaĀ PadukoneĀ looked glamorous in this gown [my guess is Ramona Narang] but the shoes were just so wrong on this outfit. I wish she would have opted for strappy heels instead of pumps. The hair, the make-up and the lady all do look fabulous, but one wrong thing can make the entire outfit look bad.

We might have to wait to see SiddharthĀ Mallya carve a niche in the business world, but this man definitely rocks on the red carpet. I do like his sense of style and the effort he puts in to look good at every event. Even here he looked neat in these tuxedos……….some established bollywood stars should make a note on ‘how to dress’ for glam events.

Imran Khan never makes a mistake when he has to dress up a formal event. I suppose his style at GQ event speak a lot about his sense of style. Love to see him in well tailoredĀ suits and tux…………perfect 10 on 10 every time. As for his wife Avantika, she did look pretty in her red wrap dress and bronze peep-toes.Ā  Except for the hair, I do dig her outfit………….nice.

‘Vision in White’ is how SimiĀ Garewal likes to keep her style………..no doubt she looks incredible and absolutely defied aging but I do wish she would add more color to her styling in form of accessories. All white can be boring at times………..:-)

More pics coming your way.

Vogue Beauty Awards 2011

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on July 30, 2011

Vogue India andĀ Mickey Contractor come together every year to celebrate the Vogue Beauty Awards 2011, of course we have loads of celebrities making their presence felt at this event. Here is your low down on who wore what and how did they fare???

Anuskha Sharma

It is jumpsuit galore these days…………Anushka’s choice for the event was also a jumpsuit by Stella McCartney. She rocked this look which was sophisticated yet perfect for the event. The satin jumpsuit added loads of elegance to her pretty looks plus the strappy shoes were a perfect fit with the outfit. All I can say that it is casual but appropriate for such a fun event.

Madhuri Dixit

And I fall in love with Madhuri Dixit all over again………..this is how this beautiful lady ought to dress up and enter fashion events. She looked every bit graceful in this black gown with earrings to add that touch of ‘bling’……….I would have added a cuff too, but nonetheless Madhuri works that gown superbly. Do check out her ‘Vogue’ cover this month…………I am all eyes the way she has been styled……….she looks like a ‘Diva’ in true sense.

Dia Mirza

Dia Mirza opted for this shimmer top dress [I think it is a’Vince’ outfit again] and basic black open toe pumps for the night……she did look cute and that is what we are not looking out at the red carpet event. Since she is going thru the sequin dress pahse, I feel Dia can definitely do better than this.

Feroze Gujral

Feroze Gujral came in a black and white off shoulders gown with a traditional ‘Matha Tikka’………..I wish she would have given it a miss since just the gown works for me……..a cuff or a neck-piece would have given a glam look. This mix of traditional with the west somewhere did not gel well.

Shraddha Kapoor

Shraddha Kapoor is going places these days with walking at Couture Week, as the face of ‘Lakme’ and now at Vogue Beauty Awards…….usually one sees her dressed looking fun and ready to party. But this off shoulder gown in brown made me cringe my nose………..I prefer the Shraddha who is ready to experiment and take risks with her looks. This one is way too simple for my taste……….does no justice to her pretty looks.

Tisca Chopra

Tisca Chopra also went for the safer route by opting for black gown but somehow failed to make an impression with her style…..The Alexander McQueen clutch is the only pretty thing in this entire ensemble……….I truly believe it was the length of the gown where the entire look went wrong……….the hemline should have been a wee bit lower to cover those platform shoes……..better if she would have opted for high heel pumps without platforms. Ā Alas such a pretty lady….maybe it was not her day.

Simone Singh

Simone Singh wearing a James Ferreira gown is a good combination………..the satin outfit stood out of the rest………the hair, the unique pattern of the dress, the cuff and the shoes……………..I feel she looks pretty when all of these are combined together. One someone else the dress might have not looked that great………Simone did absolute justice to the ensemble.

GQ India Best Dressed Men 2011

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on June 14, 2011

GQ India has just come out with the list of ‘Best Dressed Men 2011’ in it’s recent issue and also held a party at Hyatt. Let’s see if the men on the list are actually ‘Best Dressed’ or not………

Ranbir Kapoor & PrateikĀ

Seen here are the upcoming actors striking a pose with Che Kurrien, Editor of GQ…………….both of them have been voted as the Best Dressed Men for the year 2011………..While I do agree with GQ picking up Ranbir Kapoor as ‘Best Dressed’, Prateik is definitely far from being it. Anyways blazers over denim is a look I don’t dig that much…………plus with folded hems of the pants & rolled up blazer sleeves, he looks more of a ‘Street walker’ to me than a Celebrity. Ranbir too is wearing the similar ensemble, but he can absolutely carry it off………..Agree with Ranbir Kapoor as GQ’s choice but Prateik still has a long way to go with his dressing.

Karan Johar

KJo was also voted the ‘Best Dressed’ this year, and I am all for this choice of GQ magazine. Never has he come dressed in an unflattering manner………………..always dressed like a Gentleman, he sure gets my thumbs up when I see him at red carpet events wearing the fitted suits designed by him & Varun Bahl. The hair is perfect, the shoes are perfect, the face is clean shaved…….now all we have to work on is the walk……….. šŸ˜‰ ………………jokes apart, he indeed deserves to be in this list.

Rahul Khanna

Ā

With those drool worthy looks, Rahul Khanna too made to the list of GQ India’s ‘Best Dressed Men 2011’………….though Rahul is seen here wearing a tuxedo with a silver bow tie, white pants which I am no fan of…………….he still rocks. I think more than his dressing style,it is definitely his cool attitude and those cute looks which makes him look good in any damn thing. GQ………we totally agree on this celebrity.

Siddhartha Mallya

Siddhartha Mallya who has been seen on social events quite frequently since the past one year, has also made to the list of GQ India’s ‘Best Dressed’…………….I must say that he has a very flamboyant style of dressing but there is still a bit of maturity missing from his looks………I wish to see him in a more ‘Indianized Avatar’ at certain events than in his usual style of Hollywood wannabe………….One this choice I am not on the same page as GQ.

Rahul Bose

This pint size actor always makes his presence felt in any event that he attends……………he might not be the one to make people take notice of his dressing style, but his attitude speaks volume. Though I would vote for him as ‘talent powerhouse’ but ‘Best Dressed’???I am still in the middle of ‘ya’ versus ‘nay’ especially seeing him dressed in all white for the event………….GQ India picks him as one of the ‘Best Dressed’………me, I will let this one pass……….

Also present at the event were………..

Also seen at the event were Arjun Rampal along with wife Mehr Jessia, Nandita Mahtani, Sussane Roshan and Abhishek Kapoor. The ladies were dressed in white which seemed like they were following a dress code specified for the event. Nonetheless they all looked elegant while Arjun who made it to the best dressed list seemed a bit sleepy here……….I agree with GQ on Arjun as ‘Best Dressed’ but hate the fact that he at times forgets to have a clean shave look which we women adore on him. His crisp suits and effortless style have made him a red carpet ‘must see’…………….hope he listens to my wish and comes clean next time.

Queenie Dhody and Farhad Taraporvala also attended the party hosted by GQ magazine. Queenie came in dressed in an orange dress which reminded me of sherbet………………..bronze shoes and a golden clutch to complete the look. I have observed that Queenie often opts for short dresses but most of the times they fail to compliment for fab figure……….this time though she does look fabulous. My style wish for her would be to see her in gowns especially a one shoulder type…I am sure she would look absolutely amazing in those.

Isha Gupta and Sarah Jane Dias were also seen at the event…………..I like Isha’s look with those loose curl tresses but not liking Sarah’s look since it is hard for me to focus on the blue highlight on her dress or her hairdo………don’t know which one is worse. But since the night belonged to the lovely guys, let’s leave this here……..
