Renault Star Guild Awards 2013

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on February 18, 2013

Star Guild Awards held in Mumbai and hosted for the very first time by Salman Khan [can’t wait to watch that] ……the red carpet had many Bollywood haseenas strutting in their designer wear. IFP takes a look at who wore what at this event.

Renault-Priyanka

Priyanka Chopra opted for Shehlaa Khan glittery outfit that she paired it with what seems like a ‘Pinky Saraf’ clutch and blue-golden sandals. The look which was again in pastel colour did not stand out plus the shoes made the look even worse. Just not feeling this styling which could have been way better.

Renault-Anushka

Anushka Sharma manages to do a 360 degree turn around on the red carpet when she walked in in a saree, pulled back hair and jhumkaas. The ‘MAnish Malhotra’ saree looked good on her but it was the earrings that IFP is absolutely in love with. Anushka rocked this look especially after seeing her in series of mini dresses & gown.

Renault-Ekta

Ekta Kapoor was promoting her upcoming movie ‘Ek thi Daayan’ by wearing this one shoulder ‘what-to-call’  outfit. Pair it with space jumping shoes and voila you have a modern day style diva from hell. As good as her movies are and as much as money she makes from them, she could afford the best in fashion to style her. Sigh……

Renault-Vidya

Vidya Balan again opted for ‘Sabyasachi’ but this time there was a twist in form of shimmer blouse. The blouse alone is somewhat too loud but Vidya seems to have played this look well by combining an understated saree & avoiding heavy jewellery. A good look but not one of her best for sure.

Renault-Eleana

Ileana D’cruz wore a floral ‘Dolce & Gabbana’ outfit which seemed too busy with the print & net combined. Plus the hair too was not  working with this outfit. Wish Ileana could have opted for simple silhouette than this one.

Renault-Aditi

Aditi Rao Hydari in a peach ‘Payal Singhal’ saree looked as if she put the entire look in hurry. The big curls with the draping of her saree spoilt this entire look which could have been so elegant if styled differently. This look lacked grace in it……….not liking even a bit.

Renault-Hema

Hema Malini wore a ‘Neeta Lulla’ saree in pastel which was just too shiny for me. But Hemaji worked the look with her choice of clutch and diamond jewellery. On anyone else the look would have come across as garish but not on Hema Malini.

Renault-Neetu

As much as I love Neetu Chandra’s yellow saree, it is her halter blouse & make-up which makes me twitch.  The saree could have been paired with a contrasting brocade blouse with short sleeves rather than a stringy halter. The foundation appeared too light on her face than her neck…………wish Neetu would wake up from a bad dream.

Renault-Sonakshi

Sonakshi Sinha in a ‘Abu Jani-Sandeep Khosla’ design which did look elegant on the red carpet but with the designer dupatta trailing the floor, Sonakshi should have worn it better. The look lacked colour since the accessories, the shoes and the outfits itself were done up in pastels. Wish Sonakshi would have added emerald or ruby earrings for that ‘pop of colour’.

Renault-Sophie

Sophie Choudry who is immaculately dressed on the red carpet, seems to have take a day off………Sophie wore ‘Alice+Olivia’ gown in black combined with a red lips. This outfit which had sheer skirt, screamed for bold accessories. A contemporary neck-piece might have worked better. Not a fan of this look which was evidently too simple & boring.

Renault-Sridevi

Sridevi in ‘Sabyasachi’ lehenga which was an unusal choice for the red carpet but definitely an excellent one. Sridevi combined this outfit with a potli bag, dangling earrings & a side swept braid. Love this look on her which was classy, sophisticated and beautiful.

Filmfare Nominations Bash 2013

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on January 15, 2013

Filmfare Awards Nominations for the year 2013  were announced in Mumbai. ‘Barfi’ leads in the nominations and IFP hopes it wins the award for ‘Best Picture’. IFP takes you through the red carpet of this nominations bash to see how well the celebrities were dressed.

FF-Priyanka

Priyanka Chopra wore a white ‘Dior’ with a glittery clutch to add the zing to this look.  Love the hairstyle with bangs and love the way Priyanka looks classy. 🙂

FF-Alia

Alia Bhatt in a peach gown which had floral bodice that she could have flaunted with her hair pulled back. Plus the bronze oversized clutch does not compliment her look at all. I do prefer her Screen Awards outfit over this one. 😦

FF-Anushka

Anushka Sharma wore a ‘Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna’ ……..waist up she does look nice but the pants & the shoes are another story all together. It would have been preferable if the top would have extended as a knee-length dress. Sexy stilettos would have helped too to glam this look for a red carpet event.

FF-Sridevi

Sridevi went the rouge in this chiffon top in balloon sleeve teamed with high waist trousers. The top, hair & make-up get our thumbs up but the length of the trousers & the fur clutch bag were the spoilers. A smaller clutch & a knee-length skirt might have worked here. 😦

FF-Imran

Imran Khan in a grey suit looked amazing…… IFP loves the way Imran is always dressed fabulously at events. Liking this look at the way for sure 🙂

FF-Sonali

Sonali Bendre in a Manish Malhotra anarkali which came as a surprise since she usually opts for well-known designer duo. She did look pretty in this outfit and IFP thinks she looked elegant. 🙂

FF-Deepika

Deepika Padukone opted for wide leg trousers with a sequins jacket ……..unusual choice for red carpet but IFP has no complains. Deepika can carry off this look with sheer ease……..the hair, make-up, clutch & the outfit blend well. Plus she looked different & comfortable in this look.

FF-Ranveer

It sure has been a long time since IFP last saw Ranveer Singh on the red carpet. Dressed in a basic black suit & a beard to go with it! After seeing his casual looks in the past, this one surely looks good on him. Hope Ranveer continues his suited booted looks in near future too. 🙂

FF-Aditi

Aditi Rao Hydari wore a fuchsia ‘Gaurav Gupta’ gown but the pose seem too stern for such a beautiful outfit. Love the outfit and the hair but a cuff or bigger earrings would have look glamorous. Sigh!

FF-Ileana

Ileana D’cruz was spotted wearing a BCBG Max Azria one shoulder gown, the shades of blue were indeed soothing. The loose curls are what that are a mismatch with her serene outfit. Hope she would have tied her hair up in a pony or an updo. As for the outfit, I do like the gown due to its colours.

FF-Sophie

Sophie Choudry in ‘CUE by Rohit Gandhi + Rahul Khanna’ outfit looked smoking hot. The outfit had glittery accessories & shoes to complete the look. Sophie can surely carry the sheer neckline well without looking tacky. 🙂

FF-Raveena

Raveena Tandon in a Manish Malhotra Anarkali………….She did look pretty waist up but I felt Raveena could do way better than this look. Seeing her in Anarkalis has become a routine. How about adding sarees & gowns to the collection?

L’oreal Paris – Femina Awards 2012

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on March 24, 2012

L’oreal Paris collaborated with India’s leading magazine ‘Femina’ for an award event this week. The event was held in a fashionable style at the Grand Hyatt, Mumbai. Here is a look at the red carpet of the event.

Priyanka Chopra wore a ‘Gauri-Nainika’ outfit for the award event in fuchsia color. She toned down the look with white open toe pumps and sparkling diamond earrings to give the entire focus on this lovely color. IFP loves this look and thinks that Priyanka rocked on the red carpet.

Sonam Kapoor never fails to surprise me on the red carpet………………..the fact that we love her is simply because she is always different than the rest of the crowd yet looks fabulous in any ensemble. At the L’oreal Paris – Femina Awards, Sonam opted for a beautiful Anamika Khanna saree combined with an interesting blouse that had a lot of detail work. We are loving this red hot look on Sonam………

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was also at the event with mama Vrinda Rai where both mother-daughter got the award for being the ‘Woman of Substance’. Aishwarya was spotted in a geometric print churidhar while Vrinda Rai opted for a graceful pink saree. Not a fan of Aishwarya’s look since the big prints made her look much more heavier than she actually is………..as for her baby weight, every new mum has the right to enjoy motherhood and shed weight leisurely………..so why let Aishwarya be any different.

Lara Dutta also made her red carpet appearance in a beautiful ‘Rocky S’ saree. The pista green with a golden saree made her look pretty as ever and the new mum definitely glowed on the red carpet. Like the look and will wait for her future red carpet appearances eagerly.

First look at Ms. Ranaut and you are taken back to the 1960s era where Audrey Hepburn ruled the fashion scene with her style. The LBD combined with a signature ‘Dior’ bag, nude open toe pumps and a pearl neckpiece is very vintage but unfortunately I cannot find our very own Kangna in it. Honestly I think channelling a style icon through your dressing is like paying  a ‘Tribute’ to them, but loosing yourself in their style is a threat to your own fashion existence.

Dia Mirza opted for ‘Anita Dongre’ design in blue & white. She combined the weave design with silver accessory and a basic black clutch…..unfortunately the look would have been better for a dinner party or evening out with friends. For the red carpet, wish Dia would have gone a bit more glamorous.

Is it just me or does this pretty lady always turn up well on the red carpet at every event. Sophie Choudry looked gorgeous in this ‘Ramona Garware’ gown in fuchsia pink combined with a black & pink fancy clutch. IFP gives her two thumbs up to Sophie for always being so stylish and elegant at the same time.

Green was the color of choice for Queenie at the event…………….the fish scale detailing with a glittery clutch and basic black open toe pumps work for her well. She wears this Diane Von Furstenberg outfit well and after a long time have I seen her look pretty on the red carpet. IFP likes it mainly because of the rich emerald color…

Model Dipannita Sharma went the more adventurous with this ‘Masaba Gupta’ saree in camera print. Funky prints are surely ‘in’ this summer season and Dipannita surely wears this outfit well. Just wish she had skipped the metallic hue clutch and opted for wooden bangle instead to complete her look.

Actress Poorna Jagannathan opted for an elegant ‘Dior’ gown and a monochrome clutch in B/W to match with the outfit. After a series of red carpet miss outs for Poorna, it was pleasant to see her look beautiful on the red carpet. IFP is all eyes for her…….:-)

Best Dressed 2011

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on December 1, 2011

Every year ‘Indian Fashion Police’ picks out the ‘Best Dressed’ people in India. Had many celebs on my mind who stood out on the red carpet but only few managed to make it to this list. We tell you why these people made it to this list, so here goes….’BEST DRESSED 2011′

Sonam Kapoor

This pretty lady has made us proud at Cannes 2011 with her choices which stood out of the usual. She is fresh, ready to experiment with her looks and head-to-toes a style diva. I love her fashion choices so much that I am featuring her in this list second time in a row. Sarees, Anarkali, gown, trousers, dress…………dress her up in any outfit and she makes it rock.

Imran Khan

Men in Bollywood have competition when it comes down to style………….Imran who is from this generation of actor not only entertains well on the silver screen but dresses well on the red carpet. His style is young, sophisticated and fun……….all at one which he always manages to get right. This year we have seen Imran in a bandhgala during his wedding, suits, tuxedos, casual wear and managed to rock every ensemble……that’s why he makes it to this list.

Sophie Choudry

Surprise, surprise………….Sophie Choudry who lately has been seen more on the red carpet this year was one of the few women who knew what looks good on her. Her emphasis is always more on the outfit while aceesories & shoes are kept simple. She is one of the few celebs whose dressing style does not scream for attention. She carries every silhouette with utmost ease and grace.

Freida Pinto

She has been making waves in Hollywood………..not just for her films, but for her red carpet appearances. She is young, smart and very fashionable when it comes to her style. Love the designer outfits she chooses everytime she has to attend a big event………..the hair, the accessories, the outfit and the shoes……….she gets it all right.

Twinkle Khanna

Mrs. Khiladi, we are a fan of your style……..despite leaving movies, Twinkle still manages to grab attention on every red carpet event for the outfits that she wears. Now here is someone who dresses her age and thankfully is not obsessed with looking like a teenager. Twinkle’s style is all about color……..she surprises you by wearing the most bright color and she looks absolutely stunning in it. She picks up the most classic outfits that do just to her body, adds in a bit of bling and voila……….Twinkle to ready to make heads turn. And oh she also has Akshay Kumar as her arm candy at these events…………….do we need any more reasons not to feature her here??

Siddhartha Mallya

Siddhartha Mallya might be just starting out with his appearances on the red carpet but he sure looks good. He takes dressing up quite seriously be it a casual party, a major event or a cricket match. He is young and has a long way to go before he is a bonafide celebrity, but for now I have a feeling he will make a lasting impression when it is about fashion.

Dia Mirza

If I was ever asked to define the looks of a princess, Dia would be my answer. Sweet, elegant and charming lady knows how to dress well for every occasion. She can carry off pastels with the same grace as any bright color. I have never seen her dress like a christmas tree unlike many celebs………..her style is minimalistic & classic. Plus she always has a smile on her face which is the best accessory.

Rahul Khanna

Rahul Khanna might not be that big on the movie scene, but he sure knows how to impress the ladies with his style. I admire the way this man takes risks with his fashion choices. Who else can carry a shiny dinner jacket and still look awesome. Even when he hosts any event, he looks way better than the top celebrities. ‘Effortless’ is the word I use to describe his sense of style.

Celebrity Sightings this Week

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on October 28, 2011

This week witnessed loads of celebrations due to Diwali festival and this week also saw a lot of celebrity sightings. Here is the best from the week.

Lady Gaga arrives in style

Lady Gaga has arrived in India as she will be performing at the Grand Prix, but what I love about her that she like a chameleon can adapt to any style………….one moment she is a rockstar, then suddenly she turns up at an event looking like a ‘Diva’. She did surprise me in this beautiful ‘Naeem Khan’ designed one shoulder gown…………she looked splendid while she flaunted in this outfit accessorized with diamond jewelry and ‘vintage’ look sunglasses as she attended a press conference in New Delhi. Love, love. love…………

Kareena Kapoor unveils her wax statue at Madame Tussauds

Kareena Kapoor unveiled her wax figure at Madame Tussauds in London. The figurine was dressed in ‘Jab we Met’ avatar and definitely is a high-point in her career to be recognized internationally as well.

As for me, I still think the original one looks much prettier in her ‘Manish Malhotra’ saree………groovy baby.

Ekta Kapoor’s Diwali Bash

Kangana Ranaut took some inspiration from the 1960s to dress up in this peach ‘gotta’ work saree with side swept hairdo and a mini ‘Birkin’………..all the beautiful things put together unfortunately fell flat. Next time skip the bag and opt for a classy clutch. A bit of drama helps but too much of it actually spoils the look.

Someone seemed to be in some hurry………….Tusshar Kapoor was seen attending this bash in a olive green bandhgala which seemed way to body fit………Go easy on the fit, we don’t want celebrities gasping for fresh air due to tight clothes……:-)

Sophie Choudry is definitely emerging to be my favorite on the red carpet……she wore this fabulous ‘Sabyasachi’ gown to the bash and looked absolutely flawless. The understated Bottega Veneta clutch with strappy shoes complete her Anarkali look.

Samir Soni and Neelam did look color co-ordinated except for the jazzy big clutch. Though I  like her shimmery shoes……….

Spotted designer Nandita Mahtani in this hot pink saree with floral detail all over. Love the saree, hate the way it is draped and accessorized……..sigh.

Bachchans throw a Diwali Bash

Bachchan’s held a Diwali party at their residence in Juhu where many celebrities made their way to attend this event. Among the invitess were Neil Nitin Mukesh, Sonali Bendre, Raveena Tandon, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Simi Garewal, Zayed Khan and many more. But what was good, that we people got to have a sneak peek of mum-to-be Aishwarya welcoming guests.
