Honest opinion about the Indian Fashion Scenario

Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week A/W 2011- Day 1

Posted by Indian Fashion Police on April 7, 2011

And another one bites the dust, the Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2011 started in Delhi yesterday in full swing. I am so looking forward to see the creations of the best designers from our country. But this time around I will only be displaying the creation of designers whose collection is worth a look and wearable. Here’s your sneak peek at what you have in store……….

Tarun Tahiliani

The Czar is back with his new collection but only this time it was a unique blend of South-east Asia with India. The styling with the hats was very Vietnamese since such type of hat is usually used by the farmers in Vietnam & China……………the hair tied in a pony with the long earrings was very Chinese inspired. Overall the styling part was superb, the collection had distinctively 2 sections i.e. one with bright colours like reds, orange, maroons, golden and cream while the other had midnight blues and black. I love, love, love the jackets showcased in this collection paired with saree and anarkalis. The sari designs however reminded me a bit of his last year’s Fall collection. The detail work on velvet was commendable…………something not seen in the fashion weeks till now.  Though I do confess that I am not a fan of the sheer fabric creation in black with detail works as seen in this collection. My verdict :  Beautiful wearable outfits which would stand out of the crowd………….the jackets, the vibrant colours are a must have this winter season……………….but expect to see much more from Mr. Tahiliani.

Rehane

Colours, colours…………….ohhh glorious colours, but wait I am confused if this collection of Rehane is a summer wear or for winter???? The bright pinks, orange, purple, blues and greens are fit for the upcoming summer season. Rehane’s signature dresses definitely worth a look with crochet detail work……..very wearable, cute and pretty. Though I did find this range more suitable for women of a younger age group. I wish, Rehane would have made a collection for women of all ages…………..Loved the 1950s styling which was playfully feminine. My verdict : Love the colours, love the designs which were a beautiful blend of east & west…………would love to see a more elaborate collection from Rehane for women of all ages in the future.
